John Wiedemann ’70, ’73 MBA was awarded the Equipment and Tool Institute’s 17th Founder’s Award at ToolTech 2016. A former president of ETI’s board of directors, he has been involved with the institute for more than 26 years. His career in the automotive industry spanned 30 years.

Rick Echlov ’74 retired after 32 seasons as head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at Babson College. Under his tutelage, his squads combined for nearly 400 victories and made 12 appearances at the NCAA Division III championships.

Dan Riccio ’75, ’81 M.P.A. was inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame, which recognizes veterans who continue to give back to their communities. An Army veteran, he is commander of American Legion Post 76, helping veterans receive the assistance and recognition they deserve. He also participates in the “Eyewitness to History” program at North Haven High School and supports the Connecticut Special Olympics and the Leukemia Foundation.

Ken Pacheco ’76 M.S. retired as director of safety and security at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash., after a 12-year tenure. He previously spent 26 years with the Portland Police Bureau as a uniformed officer, internal investigator and sergeant with the vice and drugs division.

Peter Skewes ’79, a professor in the animal and veterinary sciences department at Clemson University, has been nominated by the American Party of South Carolina to be its candidate for president.

Ronald Giamario ’80 joined HNTB Corporation, an infrastructure-solutions firm, as vice president and operations manager. He has more than 35 years of experience in transportation infrastructure projects in rail transit, highways, bridges and transportation planning, and has worked with almost every major transportation agency in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area.

Gary Mullin ’80 MBA was named the new executive director of the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce. Since 2002, he has been the president of FTG Financial, LLC, where he provided consulting services to small and medium-size companies. He is a member of the New Haven Chamber of Commerce board of directors and a founding board member of Connecticut’s Conscious Capitalism Chapter.

Gerald Foley ’82, ’90 MBA was hired by the town of Fairfield as its new purchasing director. He previously served as the purchasing agent for the city of Norwalk for the past 15 years and as assistant purchasing agent for the city of West Haven.

Nick Sakiewicz ’83 was named commissioner of the National Lacrosse League. He most recently was CEO of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union, a franchise he co-founded in 2007. A standout soccer goalie during his time as a student, Sakiewicz was inducted into the University’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.
